The Legend of Qin

People who complain about the 3d animation need to open up their mind.I know it's hard to get used to but I think it's unusual thus unique at the same time since people are so used to the Japanese 2D animes. Once you get used to it, you actually thing this show is probably better in 3d than 2d.

Graphics- Graphics/animation aren't too great for the first 2 seasons, but still the story is pretty good if you just look pass it. But BELIEVE ME, the graphics gets MUCH BETTER as the series continues, especially 3rd and 4th. And by the time you get there, remember to compare an episode from the 4th to the 1st. HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Voice acting- The voice acting is very good for Chinese VA. (much better than Chinese dubbed anime),even though I know most ppl like to compare VA to Japanese VA. But remember, this is Chinese, different culture/country speaks differently.

A great show with ancient Chinese culture and history element, to me it's definitely refreshing/break from the Japanese dominated "anime" realm. It's worth the watch.

I will try to be as honest as possible.
How did I run into the show?
I was rummaging through crunchyroll's library of series trying to find something that would satisfy my craving for wuxia series, granted I had already seen very few that call my attention. I usually look for historical drama that have a form of fantasy elements and or have some comedy in them.
I missed Chinese paladin 1 and Journey to the west Quest for the sutra which were very entertaining in their own right, and I had left playing a particular wuxia morpg that ruined my experience with the tedious level grinding, since the am bient was beautiful and the visuals, so I decided to give
Legend of Qin a try.

first impressions:
When you watch a series , much like buying things online you rely on user response, and the response was bad, yet the arguments against this series were in my opinion weak. I still wanted to give it a chance, after viewing the first episode I loved it. The character design was good, and though it seemed rough, the ambient was great, the pacing was solid and the story was good. I was not too impressed with the movement and how some of the clothes reacted ( speaking of CGI)and there were rough edges but not enough to pull me away. It was like a video game cinematic as one user pointed out. Still Iron man armored adventures is far worse if not terrible. This show had effort that was visible and I liked the characters. It had many twists and turns. It had interesting fantasy elements and ideas. My only complaint was the last episode's last minutes..
I understand the need to show the next series as a prophesy
but it revealed too many spoilers, though it showed better graphics.
I personally would have saved that part for a teaser trailer separate from the story line coupled with a narration. It distracted me from the story. However I eagerly await season 2. The show lacks promotion
and if you see the show, I hope everyone gives it a chance before griping over the graphics or seemingly predictable storytelling. There are no unpredictable story-lines, everything has been done to death
but some are just better than others or more entertaining,. I suggest you give this show a chance.

*the story is imaginative
visuals are pretty though in todays market the standards for
excellence have risen so improving never harms anyone.

I admire shows that have effort. so I became a fan of it.

*The music
The soundtrack pretty cool. It keeps the feeling of ancient China there
and also reminds me of the events in Jet Li's Hero.

*Characters
They are pretty cool, no two characters feel alike and that is important.
each one begins growing and they will grow on you even if some do
act more immature than others, they dont continue the antics and saturate the screen time so it is all balanced well in my opinion.

last impressions:
I would recommend this series if what you seek is martial arts, fantastical characters, elements of the supernatural and historical dramas similar to Ruronin Kenshin, where it had tragedy and a bit of comedy to break the bleak mood and not dwell on deep brooding characters. Hence Tian is the way he is, no one likes an emo hogging the screen time!
If what you seek is a dark story, you hate happy characters, you seek a
more realistic style rather than the anime cgi style in this you may not like it. If you seek a complex story that will blow your mind, then this is not for you, but that will not mean the story here is bad, it is very entertaining, it has good character development, you see each one's motivations and I sincerely hope you give it a chance.

I have a pretty long history with The Legend of Qin.

Firstly, it's one of my all time favourite wuxia series! I discovered this series after looking up Yuer's voice actress details, she was in a lot of my favourite wuxia series like Chinese Paladin 3, Legend of the Condor Heroes... etc! So, I looked her up and there was this amazing looking animation, so I checked it out!

I started on season 2, and I was really hooked because everything was so intense and I really wanted to know what happened.

I love the interactions between the characters, but most importantly, this story really shows the dreams, and hopes of people, in times of need, and changing of fates, and the philosophies of universal love and anti-war is probably the most meaningful thing in this series.

I love learning about the Mohists, the history of the Qin Dynasty, in such a fun, magical way.

Sure, the animation in season 1 and 2 may be lacking but OMG, THEY IMPROVE! They really do improve so much over the years, and that's what is important. Nobody is perfect to start off, and what's important is StarQ really listens to fan's ideas, and they keep making it better. (Just go see a season 4 trailer!)

I began to translate this series a while after watching, and last year I came across Legendary Animation Studios and they have been so absolutely kind to use my translations for this series, because I love this series and want the best subtitles possible.

I hope people give it a chance, it may be different at first, the animations in the earlier seasons may put some off, but honestly - if you keep watching, it has a great, unique story... It's truly worth watching, and a great show!
