    More Silly Mumbo Jumbo
Anime is amazing....potentially. Some of it is rooted in the realities of human nature and the gross working of the world, such as the works of Miazaki, and "Welcome to the NHK". Some of it is mindless moe-based fun. And some of it is stuff like this. When a writer sets out to create a magical world, the temptation he feels to say to himself, "All limits are off. I can make anything happen ...

    Waste of a good concept.
This show started off extremely promising but quickly fell apart for me. We are given this extremely cool premise of dangerous books which *must* be found before they fall into the wrong hands and the idea that the protagonist can use those same books to help in that quest... then we're given ten episodes with sloppy pacing and a weird focus on how much the tsundere girl likes bread.

    The main ...

  • Should have gotten another season!
    Man, I love this show.
    LOVE IT.
It should have gotten another season! The art is awesome, I like the style, and the stories are really nifty. I also really enjoyed the interplay between the two main characters, Hugh and Dalian. She's so cute. And stubborn. And he is so tolerant. Anyway, it's a fun 12 episodes. Highly recommended.

  • A Great Gainax Production
Although dismissed by some as derivative of Gosick for its Victorian style setting and prim heroine, Dantalian is a fine show in its own right, offering superb atmosphere, pacing, and production quality. The plot moves along quickly and most episodes have a good balance of action and intrigue. Many hints are dropped as to the larger universe in which Dantalian takes place, but the show ends before ...

  • Absolutely Breath Taking Anime!
Every once in a while an Anime comes along that sucks you in and makes you fall in love with every aspect of it's performance. Well this was definitely one of those kinds of anime.

Story: The story was strong enough to carry through the entire show whilst still staying interesting, yet didn't weigh down the show or make it repetitious. There were some episodes where i was literally on the edge ...

    Brilliant and Highly Underrated.
Dantalian no Shoka took me completely by surprise and warrants an earnest try by everyone who claims to like anime. The characters mesh well together, the dialogue is filled with wit and charm, the animation is gorgeous, and the sounds(music and all) are simply amazing. Some episodes make you laugh and feel mortified at the same time while others are simply fun adventures. What makes this series ...

  • I was sad when I finished it
I quite liked this series. It caught me by surprise. It starts out a bit with the "Power Rangers" formula, but soon breaks pattern and becomes something more original. The animation is quite pretty, and the plot soon picks up and starts to lead somewhere. I enjoyed it, but felt it was cut off a bit abruptly. Still, I recommend it.

  • Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover
I decided to watch the anime purely cause the artwork caught my interest. However, watching the first episode got me hooked onto the show. It has a strange twist of events every episode that sometimes caught me off guard. You fall in love with the characters and the books. The ending made me lingering for more and made me search up the manga. I really recommend this to people who like mystery and ...

  • A Finely Crafted Treasure Hunt
This well-drawn and written series pulls in the watcher, in the same way that a good book does. Lovely Victorian backdrop frames each tale, while the dialogue - though sometimes sharp and shocking - guides the viewer as easily as one envisions in their mind word read on a page. With intriguing and charming characters, the watcher is lead through a maze of quests following Huey Disward and Dalian ...

So many books, so few episodes...
This anime is an intriguing and charming experience waiting for you to watch. The characters have nice personalities and nothing feels cliche or archetypical. While this anime was very pleasant while it lasted, it has some plot issues that left me unfulfilled at the end. First off, the episodes themselves are sparsely correlated and differ to the point where the entire anime feels like an OVA ...
