The world god only knows is an anime adapted from a manga of the same name.
Keima Katsuragi is a big fan of dating sims and is known on the internet as the God of conquest, someone capable of conquering any dating sim.
However at school he is called Otamegane, a mix of the words Otaku and Negane and is unpopular with both students and teachers.
One day whilst on his PFP he gets an Email asking him to conquer girls. He accepts thinking of a dating sim challenge but to his surprise a demon from hell named Elsie appears.
He is told to capture loose souls, spirits from hell that hide in the emptiness of someones heart and the way to capture them is to fill that emptiness by conquering the person.
Keima refuses as he only likes 2D girls but due to the fact that he will be beheaded if he were to refuse he begins to capture loose souls.
The reason I love this anime so much is that it is cheerful most of the time and is a nice way to get away from the tragedy that I usually watch.
The people who contain loose souls are all unique and all have something that is making them sad. Also once the loose soul is gone the person forgets about what Keima did while they had the loose soul.
The fact that Keichi knows so much about dating sims and can apply them so well in the real world is amazing and his lessons can be entertaining. It is full of pop culture and references to anime characters and still manages to be very unique.
Because the show introduces a new heroine every few episodes some people would think that it would make the characters not have enough back story to connect with them but it is surprisingly easy to connect with each one, and if you pay attention you will notice past heroines in some scenes.
The music in the anime fits well with the scenes and adds the right amount of emotion in the right places. The openings of both of the seasons make me think of video game music and is reminiscent of .hack, I have to say that I didn't really pay attention to the ending themes but they change for each character.
The animation is beautiful, characters are vibrant in a happy environment and dull in a sad environment. It stays very true to the manga's art.
The way the faces are done is cute and Keichi's eyes really give you the impression that he is smart yet as if he has given up on reality. If this will change in season 3 I don't know as he does seem to be a bit happier in the real world.
The chibi scenes fit in well and are drawn wonderfully. It reminds me of the chibi in Sora no Otoshimono
The only down side I can think of is the predictable nature of the show, but this can be said for most anime out there.
If you haven't already watched this you really are missing out on a great anime.
