I find the series as a whole is actually less about Fuji and more about all of them as a group. There was obviously some inter connectivity between all of them but it was never clear this episode lays more of that out.

Hate to say it, but I think Yuki is a minor character compared to all the more interesting females in this anime. She is out of the loop in my opinion.
