    Yonna and the Wasted Half-Hour.
Okay so the first thing I'll admit is that this is not my cup of tea so to speak. The 3D animation looks like it's trying to be too anime and ends up with this strange . . . warped-ness. The proportions look way off while your watching it (example the thigh looks like it dominates the leg and the shin is very small) and the music is strange. The few fight scenes in Yonna are stiff and unnatural. ...

This needs more depth and character
No direction for the short. The characters have little to no development and seem hollow. There was a potential to the storyline but the writer just didn't seem to really push it forward. I would have really liked to have seen the brother/sister relationship explored and given more feeling. Her brother seemed more like a thug then an actual brother, giving the appearance of no real connection ...

  • It could be worse lol
It could have had barney the dinosaur and tellatubies in it. This was more like someone testing out a graftics program with a skit they wrote in junior high. Poor acting, flimsy plot, and a story that really goes no where.

    Hollow, non-rational storyline
The animation looks beautiful just like Final Fantasy CG, but that's it. There's no real storyline here. I recommend anyone waste 30 min on something else.

The girl seems to have some kind of power that we do not really know what it is. Some time she seems to be able to control it, sometime not, without reason. The whole story is just confusing.

Unbiased Review of Yonna in the Solitary Fortress
Like many OVA's this is a one shot wonder. It opens up in a past for the main character, but is a bit confusing as it seems like it is a book that we randomly opened and started reading. Character development is not important, as is shown by the lack of understanding we have of the characters.
Yonna, the main character and a would be sorceress, lacks depth, by which i ref ere to her spontaneous ...

  • It's still a bit lacking, but it has potential
The animation was pretty choppy, the character's faces lacked emotion, and everything moved around as if it were made of plastic. Yet, the idea behind everything is pretty good. I like the story, though it could certainly go much further in depth. As it is, it can very quickly lose your attention, but if you stick with it, you might find that it is kind of sweet. It's difficult to tell a complete ...

Something you should keep in mind...
There's one thing you need to keep in mind when you watch this: All of the modeling, rigging, skinning, texturing, lighting, and animation was done by one person - as well as the pre-production work such as concept art and character design. So yes, it's not that great compared to the current industry standard, but then go check the credits on any industry standard CG film and count how ...

  • Breath-taking, Enchanting!!!
The animation (particularly as it's done by a single person) is extraordinary, very realistic and full of even greater potential should future projects be in the works for this masterpiece. While the story and characters need further development, it would be wonderful to see such particulars unfold with additional episodes. I find myself mesmerized and desiring more of Yonna and her continuing ...

    Great renders, but the rest?
    Art: 8
    Animation: 5
    Story: 6

The first thing I will say is the environment art is amazing! However it did not match the style of the characters, making it hard to immerse.

The animation was good enough for someone just starting out, but it made the characters stiff and have strange facial expressions.Having such realistic art and stiff animations broke a lot of chances for me to really ...
